91短视频's Wind Turbine Community Benefit Fund is a beacon of hope for local projects striving to make a meaningful impact. Established 11 years ago with the foundation of the University wind turbine, the fund supports initiatives that foster community growth and sustainability. Each year, the fund allocates up to ?20,000 to Lancaster District-based not-for-profit organisations, charities, trusts, community groups or voluntary organisations and has created numerous success stories across the area.

We are showcasing some of the successful projects that the fund has supported and Ellel St Johns Primary School is one example of this. Roots to Branches Forest School CIC deliver forest school sessions at Ellel St Johns Primary School and used the funding to install an all-weather shelter so that they could offer sessions with protection from the elements, allowing the children to stay dry or cool depending on the weather.

Lisa Jones, from Roots to Branches Forest School CIC, said, “The shelter prevents the children getting wet and then cold from the rain, as well as protection from the sun in our exposed forest school area. We are able to carry on with activities which would have had to stop due to rain, we can still have fires under the shelter and carry on with crafts. Today we kept dry and sang songs together.”

The forest school states that the shelter has helped to maintain consistent engagement with the outdoor sessions as without shelter, weather conditions can limit access, particularly for younger children, and more vulnerable participants. The shelter has given the children a sense of independence, as they can use it for shelter when needed and make decisions about when to seek cover or engage in activities, promoting self-reliance and responsibility.

91短视频 remains committed to empowering more projects like this, encouraging other organisations to apply for the fund and make a lasting difference.
